ACIM Lesson 43: My Daily Reflection (ignoring God)

Day 43: God’s inescapable presence. You can’t escape God. Many people walk through life ignoring God and/or denying his existence. But no matter which position you take, God is in the conversation.

Therefore, you’ve never cut off from God. (Psalm 139)

Even if you have never spoken to him.

Because he is our Heavenly Father, whenever you’re ready, he waits to talk to YOU.

Imagine you’re wearing special glasses. Everything you see — your desk, your friend, an annoying person — is seen through those glasses.

ACIM Lesson 43 is teaching that God gave you those glasses. You can’t take them off.

So, whether you realize it or not, you’re designed to look at everything through God’s point of view.

But first, stop picking and choosing the conversations you’re willing to have with God. Instead, talk to him about everything, all day. That’s how you develop a relationship with God.

Frustration. All that tension folded inward, while something vast and gentle, the presence of God, is literally pooling at your feet.

Holy Spirit doesn’t chase you or demand something from you. He’s just waiting for you to open the door and invite him in.

You are worthy. You are his favorite child. He loves you more than you love him.

Perception creates the problems we have in daily life.

River of Shame: If you only see through the lens of the ego (which includes demonic interference), then life is harder because Holy Spirit doesn’t have permission to help you heal and forgive.

In addition, when you partner (yoke) with Holy Spirit, he helps with your daily decision-making.

River of Grace: Holy Spirit is the wondrous gift that Jesus gave to us when he died for our sins, and rose again.

But here’s the tricky part: Most of the time, we think we’re seeing things on our own. We judge people, get upset, feel left out or scared. And we think that’s reality. And most people focus on controlling reality as their first priority.

ACIM says that our reality isn’t true.

We see “reality” when we forget to look through God’s glasses. As a result of ignoring God’s presence, distortion happens. And then we spend time trying to fix things (trying to control things) on our own.

The fix: The Holy Spirit is a helper or a translator. He is the one who reminds you that the glasses exist, and then helps you see more clearly. You don’t have to make a big move. All that is required is for your willingness to invite the Helper to show you a different way of seeing.

Forgiveness and healing are the gifts you receive when you act in accordance with Holy Spirit, and walk with obedience by implementing his guidance. (River of Grace)

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit,
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings
to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute.
You’re already there waiting!
Psalm 139:7-12 Message Bible

“I respect your honesty as well. We may express our faith differently, but I think there’s something important in what you said – staying awake, staying aware, and not drifting through life on autopilot. That ‘warrior’ lens you speak from is clearly part of your journey, and I can see the conviction behind it.” Dean Jones
