‘If guilt is hell, what is its opposite?’
Day 39: I love it when Holy Spirit shows off. As I finished today’s video from ACIM teachers, Nouk and Coreen, on the topic of guilt and salvation, the next video on YouTube started entitled, “Class 1: The Power Of Salvation | Salvation Made Simple”.
When I watched it, that next video was only one day old.
Well, that was easy.
Efficient and effective, that’s my love language.
“Salvation is a gift from God, not a reward for good behavior,” says Pastor Mike Todd from Transformation Church in the video below. Explaining further, he adds, “It’s not a prerequisite for a relationship with God… God doesn’t bless who you pretend to be. He blesses who you really are… Jesus is a divine interruption.”
Pastor Mike continues saying that salvation is not merely behavior modification, but is instead spiritual transformation. What Jesus did for humanity, we could not do for ourselves. In addition, Pastor Mike confirms that you don’t need to “clean yourself up” before you start a conversation with Jesus.
Porcupine is the Demon Spotting code word for bullying yourself.
Guilt trip. Thinking that there are things you need to do first — before you speak to Jesus or Holy Spirit — is a self-punishment block you created to bully yourself out of your salvation. It’s your way of closing the door to the answer.
You think there’s more to do to prepare yourself. There isn’t.
Just be brave. Open the door and walk through it.
Peace waits for you once you decide to stop punishing yourself.
That shift I just made to the topic of self-punishment and bullying, creates a connection to Demon Spotting code words.
Bullying yourself is a devastating attack — that you perpetrate on yourself — from the Porcupine position.
Think about it. It’s called a guilt TRIP. That’s a word used in combat sports fight language.
Definition: A guilt trip is a form of emotional manipulation where someone induces feelings of guilt in another person (or within themselves) to control their behavior, or to force compliance. It is often used to make someone feel bad for a perceived transgression — such as not doing a favor (or uninviting them to a wedding, for example) — to make them feel obligated to act, or to stop an action, whatever the case may be.
Quills turned inward don’t just sting. They shut down you down. That’s different — and more dangerous than outward Porcupine behavior.
When you turn your own quills on yourself, you make sure that you suffer… because you say you deserve it.
That’s what guilt looks like. And that’s why it feels like hell.
Innocence and Heaven are the opposite of guilt.
And here is the question from Lesson 39 again, “If guilt is hell, what is its opposite?”
The answer is, as Coreen says in today’s ACIM Lesson 39 video (below), “Innocence and heaven are the opposite of guilt and hell.”
FACT: You can’t get where you need to go without help from Team Trinity: Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is speaking to his disciples. “Don’t let this rattle you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you, so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I’m taking.”
Thomas said, “Master, we have no idea where you’re going. How do you expect us to know the road?”
Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You’ve even seen him!”

ACIM Lesson 39 Homework: Guilt and unloving thoughts
Don’t skip the homework in ACIM Lesson 39 because, “As you apply the exercises to your own world, the whole world stands to benefit.”
That lands as responsibility. So now is a perfect time to get on with it.
The lesson continues, “Your holiness (freedom from bondage) means the end of guilt, and therefore, the end of hell.”
The instructions for this “escape from the River of Shame” homework are prefaced with the following statement. “Repeat the idea to yourself. Then with closed eyes search out your unloving thoughts, in whatever form they appear – uneasiness, depression, anger, fear, worry, attack, insecurity, and so on. Whatever form they take, they are unloving, and therefore, fearful. And so it is from them that you need to be saved.”
Those fearful thoughts are the demons that need to be spotted when you receive your three code words from the Demon Spotting Randomizer.

Remember, forgiveness is how you win.
Forgive yourself. Forgive them.
Move from the River of Shame (and guilt) to the River of Grace, where you are met, guided and protected by Team Trinity.
Holding onto thoughts, in the form of grudges or resentment, is the opposite of forgiveness. Only Team Trinity can release you from the demonic grip on your mind.
More explanation for today’s important exercise: “Specific situations, events, or personalities you associate with unloving thoughts of any kind are suitable subjects for today’s exercises. It is imperative for your own salvation that you see them differently.
And it is your blessing on them that will save you and give you vision.”
The idea to be repeated. Fill in the blank with a person, place or thing.
“My unloving thoughts about __________ are keeping me in hell. My holiness is my salvation (freedom from bondage).“
