I’ve studied A Course in Miracles (ACIM) twice before. Only once, in 2009, did I stick to the lessons every day for a year.
The ACIM workbook is a gift from the Holy Spirit. The 365 lessons are designed to break the ego’s grip on our mind.
If we open just a crack of space, Holy Spirit — or Lady Wisdom, if you prefer to personify the third person of the Holy Trinity — shifts our point of view to create space that Spirit fills with the presence of God.
In a recent conversation with Spirit, I asked him where the concepts in my Demon Spotting game came from. He reminded me of ACIM.
I dug out my copy of the ACIM Workbook and opened to a random page.
What I found on page 628: Rules for Decision
When chatting with Holy Spirit, nothing is random. Lol! I found the following passage (see below) halfway down page 628.
“…you will not make decisions by yourself whatever you decide. For they are made with idols or with God. And you ask help of anti-Christ or Christ, and which you choose will join with you and tell you what to do…You always ask advice before you can decide on anything.” ACIM, Chapter 30, Section 1: 14-15.
And there it was! The basic concept of the Demon Spotting game. We converse with demons (our ego) AND/OR we converse with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Each human decides how to proceed, based on who they decide to listen to, using their own free will.
Writing stories, applying analytic code words, exploring the consequences and being surprised by the outcomes of choices continuously fascinates me. That’s what keeps me focused on this Demon Spotting conversation.
Spirit prompted me to spend this year going back through the lessons and to record my daily reflections on this blog.
With reluctance, I agreed. “Yes, sir.”
And then the whining started. “OMG! I already have enough to do! (Hello EGO!) There are all these other directions that I want to go in. What about me? Don’t I get a say in what I want to do with my time?”
As expected, Spirit left the conversation without saying another word.
So, because I am not always quick to respond (doh!), it is now January 7 of the year 2026, and I am working on ACIM Lesson One. Which, when complete, will be back-dated to January 1st.
As Pastor Mike Todd from Transformation Church likes to say “I’m not perfect. I’m progressing.”

Studying ACIM and completing the lessons creates space for “…learning to heal all of our relationships through the inspired practice of forgiveness.” ACIM.org
Nothing I see in this room (on this street, from this window, in this place) means anything. ACIM Lesson 1
A Course In Miracles: Lesson 1 (read the lesson here).
Note to the Reader: The course is constantly shifting your point of view to make you look at things differently. It will irritate, upset and confuse you. And yet, you feel loved, nurtured and looked after.
I went through the workbook for a full year in 2009. At the same time, I completed my first full year of jiu-jitsu training. Getting toppled, twisted and turned in new directions helped me open my mind to see how things look upside-down vs right-side-up.
Coincidence? I think not.
Lessons learned from ACIM that I applied to my Demon Spotting Game
- Converse with demons (the ego) or Holy Trinity (Heavenly Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit). You choose which side to partner with.
- Shift your point of view and see things in a completely different way. If you want to keep your mind nimble and young, practice this on a daily basis.
- Be obedient or suffer the consequences. Said every parent all over the world.
- Choose the Best Cornerman. Demons (egos) have a limited view of the world. Holy Spirit sees everything from all angles. He is the best person to have in your corner, advising (or telling) you what to do in every situation. He evaluates each outcome to find the best one for your circumstance.
- Create neutral space. Silence your ego (the demons) and leave room to hear advice from God.
- Forgive the same person repeatedly. As Jesus said to Peter, “70 times 7”, when asked how often a person should be forgiven. Which means, never stop forgiving a person.
- Forgive everyone always and often. This admonition is most important to hear and understand: “Your heavenly Father will forgive you, if you forgive those who sin against you. But if you refuse to forgive them, he will not forgive you.” Matthew 6:13-15, TLB
Forgiveness is key. Remember to forgive yourself as well.
Looking back, I can see that writing my first book, Diary of a Demon Spotter, marked the beginning of me ramping up my forgiveness game. And the lessons didn’t stop there.
To be clear, at first, forgiving wasn’t easy. Especially when it came to witches who conspire with demons to interfere with us humans.
However, the witch is still a human being, and as that is true, God loves that person as if he or she were his favorite child. So now, I work to forgive the human behind the witchcraft.
Here’s an excerpt of a Warrior prayer for that purpose:
"Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that witches, their handlers and the humans who do their bidding are infiltrated by Jesus and the Holy Spirit. May they all turn towards the light! May their connection to dark power be broken! I plead the blood of Jesus over this situation. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen."
DramaGuru Academy is here to teach you how to navigate the situations in your life. Through Demon Spotting lessons, we reveal the patterns of any demon who is interfering with you and your loved ones. We show you how to stare those demons down as you advance confidently from the First Heaven, through the Second Heaven, towards the Third Kingdom of Heaven.
