ACIM Lesson 26: My Daily Reflection (God teaches)

apostle isi video hear God clearly

Day 26: Yesterday, I introduced ex-witch Jessica Murray and listed three of her 10 ways to tell who is talking to you, God or one of Satan’s minions. Jessica uses her voice to teach witches about Jesus, and the rest of us about witchcraft.

Today, I have a video from Apostle Isi Igenegba, who is a seasoned pastor, corporate trainer and certified leadership coach. She is a powerful speaker and teacher. This conversation is rich with biblical teaching. There is much to digest here.

Apostle Isi appeared on “The Deep End with Taylor Welch” podcast, “How to Hear God’s Voice Clearly,”

Apostle Isi’s video explains how to hear God’s voice clearly through several practical steps and insights:

  • Be like a child and follow breadcrumbs: Have a childlike attitude. Be willing to follow small clues from God without needing everything to make perfect sense. Be curious. (24:30-24:45).
    • In the framework of Demon Spotting, looking for clues involves using the code words to disentangle conversations, identify traps, avoid stepping into them and learning how to escape from them.
    • When you play from the River of Shame, you operate on your own, without the support of Jesus and Holy Spirit.
    • From the River of Grace, you benefit, receiving guidance, protection and support from Jesus and Holy Spirit.
  • Study the Word of God: Become familiar with the Bible’s language and standards. Learn to recognize God’s point of view outside of scripture, whether in conversations, people, or life experiences (24:48–25:12).
    • As Jessica pointed out in yesterday’s video discussion, chaos is not from the Lord. Peace is. When a conversation or a situation causes discomfort, stop and notice what you are facing. Is this a positive risk? Is this normal nervousness? Or is this risk negative? Frightened is different from the nervousness of facing a challenge. In both cases, reflect on the wisdom of God.
    • “Become wise by walking with the wise. Hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.” Proverbs 13:20
  • Engage in prayer: Apostle Isi highlights the value of open, honest, vulnerable, and enjoyable prayer, including warfare prayer as a primary way to know God (25:14–25:41).
    • If you’re new to prayer, try starting with a basic conversation with the Lord Jesus. Say hello as if you’re greeting a treasured friend. Or introduce yourself and get to know Jesus for the first time. He’s listening.

Summary: Apostle Isi goes deeper on the difference between good and evil. When God says something is good, he means that the process or your understanding is efficient and effective. That means you’ve learned, you’ve practiced, and now you are well-trained to operate on your own without his constant supervision.

Apostle Isi: “So, you have good and then you have evil. Now, ‘tov’ literally means for a thing to possess the ability to replicate the will of God in future generations. And for those future generations to have within them, the seed that makes multiplication possible. That’s basically the meaning of good.

That’s why every time God created, the Bible says, “and He saw that it was good,” [Genesis 1:31] and then He went on to the next thing. He saw that what He had made, had the ability to keep producing in the future, without His intervention. So, when He saw that His system of multiplication was intact, then He moved to the next thing.

When you talk about good in the eyes of God, it’s about whether you are able to keep multiplying God’s will on the earth without God having to consistently come and intervene.

One day, when the angels came to report to God, Satan also showed up.
God singled out Satan, saying, “And what have you been up to?”

Satan answered God, “Oh, going here and there, checking things out.”

Then God said to Satan, “Have you noticed my friend, Job? There’s no one quite like him, is there? He's honest and true to his word, totally devoted to God and hates evil. He still has a firm grip on his integrity! You tried to trick me into destroying him, but it didn’t work.”
Job 2:1-3 MSG

So, after hearing those definitions, does that explain why bad things happen to good people?

When I did tarot card readings or psychic readings, did I realize that I created a bill that would have to be paid in the future? No, I did not.

I’ve heard non-believers say that they won’t believe in a God who doesn’t punish people for their sins.

Well, when I think back on my life, there were things that I lost or were taken away, it starts to look like I did “pay” for my sins. As far as living life here in the First Heaven (Earth), I’ve made a lot of mistakes. But Jesus died for our sins. He knew we would continue to get it wrong. He has not separated from us. We separate from him when we suffer from our thoughts attacking our peace.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
John 3:16 NIV

What if the answer to hearing God clearly is to focus on asking Holy Spirit, “What do you want me to do that is good in your eyes today?”

The answer probably won’t match anything you’re currently doing because as we discussed in ACIM Lesson 24, we don’t perceive our own best interests.

Most of us have drifted off-course. We are not even aware of our Heavenly-given assignment, let alone working on it.

Before they got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were told to be fruitful and multiply. That sounds like an order given to do “good work to help us build for the future,” as already defined above.

But then things got weird after they ate the apple. Their disobedience gave Satan a toehold that allows him to torment and judge us. Filled with thoughts of being attacked, we beat ourselves up because we can’t find peace. Which leads us straight into today’s ACIM lesson.

Arrogant Satan challenges God
Satan answered, “A human would do anything to save his life. But what do you think would happen if you reached down and took away his health? He’d curse you to your face, that’s what.”
Job 2:4-5 MSG

ACIM Lesson 26: “The idea for today introduces the thought that you always attack yourself. If attack thoughts must entail belief that you are vulnerable, their effect is to weaken you in your own eyes.

Thus, they [the thoughts] have attacked your perception of yourself. And because you believe in them [the thoughts], you can no longer believe in yourself. A false image of yourself has come to take the place of what you are.” A Course In Miracles (ACIM): Workbook Lesson 26 (full text – free to read)

Anxiety. Unable to sleep at night. Frustration. Poor health. Anticipating punishment. Everything starts with a mind that is uneasy. Fear, guilt, depression. Make room for Holy Spirit by ignoring these attack thoughts. Shift to the River of Grace where help is available. Location matters. Get out of the River of Shame.
