Today I offer proof that Holy Spirit speaks directly to me.
Day 4: First, he gave me an assignment:
- Review the 365 lessons in A Course in Miracles.
- Record your thoughts online as a daily blog post.
In 2009, I studied the lessons for a full year. Each week, I met with a group of ACIM students to discuss the impact the Course had on our lives. I enjoyed that time of fellowship and learning.
Fast forward to now, New Year’s Day, 2026. When Spirit gave me the assignment to review the 365 lessons, I was not eager to jump in.
My messy mind came up with objections and well-reasoned arguments for why I should spend my time going in a different direction. “I’ve already done it! That’s a lot of lessons and a lot of time!”
But to no avail, Spirit wasn’t interested in my objections. He ignored my arrogance, lack of faith, and ignorance, allowing me to discover the clues to his wisdom on my own.
Before I asked, Spirit provided the perfect ACIM teachers.
Second Proof: Finding the right teachers without having to search for them is the second proof that Holy Spirit speaks directly to me.
As I started the video for Lesson One, I recognized that Spirit hadn’t bothered to spell out in great detail what he expected from me. There was no project timeline with steps and deadlines. He just asked me to do what he needed me to do.
He did, however, save me from wasting time looking for which ACIM teacher to follow. I started my Youtube search by checking the two names that I recognized as credible sources.
- David Hoffmeister, who I met and took classes with on a retreat outside of Boston in 2009.
- Plus, The Master Teacher. During Covid, I watched his videos of the first 50 ACIM lessons.
Then, after refreshing the page, Nouk and Coreen’s video showed up on my Youtube home page. I started with the Intro video for day one. Once I heard them talk about the Gap Diagram, I knew I was in the right place.
So then, after watching three days of their excellent A Course in Miracles (ACIM) videos, I suddenly asked myself, “Wait! How did I find Nouk and Coreen?”
The short answer is, I didn’t find them. Holy Spirit presented them to me.
My obedience paid off!
People often say, ‘When the student is ready, the teacher appears.’
How do I know that Coreen and Nouk are the right teachers?
Right from the start, as soon as I saw the Gap Diagram, I recognized components of my Demon Spotting game!
I spent very little time looking for the “right person”. Spirit gave me the exact teachers I need to accomplish the task he’s given me. This is a sign of the “Unified Mind” that Coreen and Nouk mention often.
They distinguish between:
- Separate Mind: disconnected from God, suffering as you try to escape the trap
- and Unified Mind: connected with God, receiving guidance to escape the trap. Momentary breaks from the trap allow the wounded mind to heal.
Demon Spotting: Through the use of Code Words, situations are analyzed. Removing the emotion from the situations results in calmness. Your mind moves to neutral space…and there you connect with Holy Spirit. I always say, he only needs a small crack (and your permission) to get in and heal you.
Third Proof: Nouk’s Gap Diagram
Third Proof: The miracle is that I didn’t even know Nouk’s Gap Diagram existed. But Spirit knew! His project management guidance is to give me the tool he wants me to focus on. He is efficient and effective!
The ACIM textbook is as thick as The Bible.
As in The Bible, you can pick any place to start, but the story is different in each of the 66 books. Where you start determines where you end up.
The Course material is full of concepts. Spirit focused me on what he wants me to do: Help people clear the clutter so that they can hear his voice and heal their minds.
And, for many years, he’s been guiding me along a path so that I can learn what I need to know to accomplish this task.
Within the first few days of rejoining the Course, Spirit showed me the structure supporting the purpose of my game. Using the language of ACIM, Demon Spotting focuses on helping people escape the trap of “special relationships”. Fight IQ Training for Spiritual Warfare
After digging into this assignment, I have to acknowledge that Holy Spirit’s guidance is superb. I’m trusting him more. His vantage point allows him to see what I can’t even imagine or figure out for myself. He is the best Cornerman any of us could ask for.

From today’s lesson: If I had ignored Spirit’s voice asking me to start with Lesson One, none of this conversation (these blog posts) would exist.
It’s a trap! Missing out on stuff. Being lost and confused. Wasting time. Replaying my own thoughts in my head. As a result, if I had disregarded Spirit’s request to start again with ACIM Lesson One, that’s the trap I’d be in.
Or maybe I was just lucky…and the AI algorithm is really clever.
